quotation、quote、estimate、proposal。
Longman の語義は a written statement of exactly how much money something will cost。
Longman の語義は a statement of how much it will probably cost。
語義は a guess of what the size, value, amount, cost, etc. of something might be。
Cambridge は名詞の quote を the price that a person or company says they will charge to do a piece of work と、quotation とまったく同じ文で定義しています
Cambridge の語義は an offer to do something when you are competing with other people to do it(C1)。
quotation — a written statement of exactly how much money something will cost
estimate — a statement of how much it will probably cost to build or repair something
|---|---|---|---|
| quotation | exactly how much money something will cost(Longman) | C2 | 金額を約束する |
| quote | the price that a person or company says they will charge(Cambridge) | C2 | quotation
| estimate | probably cost(Longman)/a guess(Cambridge) | B2 | 概算を伝える |
| proposal | a formal suggestion or plan(Oxford) | B2 | やり方を提案する |
| bid | an offer to do something when you are competing(Cambridge) | C1 | 入札で競う |
- Cambridge(C2)=the price that a person or company says they will charge to do a piece of work
- Cambridge Business=a statement of how much a job, service, or product will cost
- Oxford=a statement of how much money a particular piece of work will cost
- Longman=a written statement of exactly how much money something will cost
- Longman Business=a written statement of how much something will cost, for example some building work
Cambridge の says they will charge が重要です。
quotation — a group of words or a short piece of writing taken from a book, play, speech, etc. and repeated because it is interesting or useful
Oxford
さらに Cambridge には株価の語義もあります(the price of a company’s shares on a stock market at a particular time)。
Oxford も the current value of goods or shares です。
Cambridge
quote — the price that a person or company says they will charge to do a piece of work
Cambridge Business も a statement of how much a job, service, or product will cost で、こちらも同文です。
|---|---|---|
| 金額を出す(一般) | to give a price, especially one that will be charged for doing a piece of work | Cambridge(C2) |
| 顧客に金額を伝える | to tell a customer how much a job, service, or product will cost | Cambridge Business |
| 顧客に請求額を伝える | to tell a customer how much money you will charge them for a job, service or product | Oxford |
| 株価を出す | to give the current price of a company’s shares or of a currency | Cambridge Business |
上の3つとも a customer か a piece of work が入っています。
ただし動詞の quote には、引用する意味も C1 で立っています(to repeat the words that someone else has said or written)。
- Cambridge(B2・名詞)=a guess of what the size, value, amount, cost, etc. of something might be
- Cambridge(動詞)=to say what you believe the cost, size, value, etc. of something is, although you do not know for certain
- Oxford(B2)=to form an idea of the cost, size, value, etc. of something, but without calculating it exactly
- Longman=a calculation … made using the information that you have, which may not be complete
- Longman Business=a statement of how much it will probably cost to build or repair something
Cambridge の although you do not know for certain は、はっきり「確かには知らない」とあります。
Oxford の without calculating it exactly も同じことを言っています。
estimate — a statement for a possible customer about how much a piece of work should cost
An estimate is also a statement of the likely cost と、likely を使っています。
- Cambridge(B2)=a suggestion, sometimes a written one
- Cambridge Business=a formal suggestion, plan, or idea, often a written one
- Oxford=a formal suggestion or plan; the act of making a suggestion
- Longman=a plan or suggestion which is made formally to an official person or group
proposal — an act of formally asking somebody to marry you
Oxford
Cambridge は an offer of marriage に B2 を付けています。
I have a proposal for you
Cambridge と Longman Business には、保険の語義もあります(an official document in which you give information about yourself and your property for an insurance agreement)。
bid — an offer to do something when you are competing with other people to do it
語義に competing with other people が入っているのが決定的です。
If two or more people bid for a job, they compete with each other to do the work by offering to do it for a particular amount of money.
People who bid for/on a job offer to do it for a particular amount of money.
Subject: Quotation Q-2609-114 — valid until 20 October Dear Ms Carter, Thank you for the specification you sent on 15 September. Please find attached our quotation, Q-2609-114. The prices are the amounts we will charge, and they are valid until 20 October. The quotation covers the 2,000 units, the tooling and the sea freight to Rotterdam. It does not cover import duty or inland transport in the Netherlands. If you would like us to add those, I will send a revised quotation on the same day you ask. Best regards, Kenji Sato Overseas Sales, Marubishi Trading
3行目の the amounts we will charge は、Cambridge の語義 the price that a person or company says they will charge をそのまま平易にした言い換えです。
Subject: Rough estimate for the Osaka line — not a firm price Dear Mr Silva, Thank you for asking about the Osaka line. I have attached a rough estimate so that you can plan your budget. Please treat the figures as approximate, because the steel price for the first quarter is not fixed yet. Once we have the confirmed steel price, I will send a formal quotation with prices we can commit to. I expect that to be in the second week of November. Best regards, Kenji Sato Overseas Sales, Marubishi Trading
件名に not a firm price を入れています。
Longman の語義 how much it will probably cost に当たる書類なので、確定でないことを先に書くほうが揉めません。
Subject: Request for a quotation — 500 units, delivery in March Hi Marco, Could you send us a quotation for 500 units of part 7710-A? We need delivery in the first week of March, to Kobe port. If the March date changes the price, please quote both March and April so that we can compare. Could you also tell me how long the quotation stays valid? Thanks, Kenji
Oxford の語義 to tell a customer how much money you will charge them for a job, service or product に当たる使い方です。

| おおよそで計算する(動詞) | to estimate | without calculating it exactly(Oxford) |
Longman は quotation を exactly how much money something will cost、estimate を how much it will probably cost と書き分けています。
Cambridge は bid の語義に competing with other people を入れています。
Cambridge の estimate の語義は a judgment or calculation of approximately how large or how great something is です。
does not cover で並べます。
- 確定金額=quotation(Longman が exactly と書いた唯一の語/written も語義に入る)
- quotation の短い形=quote(Cambridge が同じ文で定義している)
- 概算=estimate(Cambridge は guess、Longman は probably、Oxford は without calculating it exactly)
- やり方の提案=proposal(3冊とも金額が語義に無い)
- 競争で出す金額=bid(Cambridge が competing with other people と語義に入れた)
