We will make a claim.
Cambridge の語義は a statement that something is wrong or not satisfactory(B1)。Oxford は a reason for not being satisfied; a statement that somebody makes saying that they are not satisfied です
①to say that something is true or is a fact, although you cannot prove it(証明できないまま主張する)②to ask for something of value because you think you have a right to it(権利として請求する)
Longman は前置詞まで明記しています=You complain about something or someone/Don’t say: They complained against the service.
- 正式に出すときの形は file / lodge / make a complaint です。Oxford は (formal) to file/lodge (= make) a complaint です
Cambridge Business の HR ラベルの語義は an official complaint by an employee that they have been treated unfairly です
acknowledge は to tell someone, usually in a letter or email, that you have received something they sent you、look into は to examine the facts about a problem or situation です
Cambridge Business の INSURANCE ラベルは a request to an insurance company for payment relating to an accident, illness, damage to property, etc.
SAY=言う、DEMAND=要求する、STATEMENT=陳述。苦情にあたる分類が1つも無いことが、分類の名前だけで見て取れます。
claim verb ( SAY ) B2 [ T ] to say that something is true or is a fact , although you cannot prove it and other people might not believe it
claim verb ( DEMAND ) B2 [ T ] to ask for something of value because you think it belongs to you or because you think you have a right to it
| not satisfactory | 0件 | 0件 | 0件 |
Longman に1件だけ出てくる complained は、語義ではなくコーパスの例文(a reader complained to Chicago Sun-Times columnist Diane Crowley about the claiming of spots)の中の語です。
We will make a claim.
[transitive] to say that something is true although it has not been proved and other people may not believe it
although it has not been proved(まだ証明されていないのに)という条件が、語義そのものに埋め込まれているのが要点です。
claim allegation assertion These are all words for a statement that something is true, although it has not been proved.
- The supplier claims that the parts were shipped on time.=出荷したと先方は言っているが、こちらは確認できていない、という含み
- The supplier says that the parts were shipped on time.=含みなし
- The supplier confirmed that the parts were shipped on time.=裏が取れている
B2 [ I or T ] to make a written demand for money from a government or organization because you think you have a right to it
claim noun [C] ( DEMAND ) B2 a written request asking an organization to pay you an amount of money that you believe they owe you
written(書面で)と money(金額)が語義に入っています。
| Cambridge Business が see also に並べる claim | どういう場面の語か |
|---|---|
| statement of claim | 訴状 |
Cambridge|B1 [ C or U ] a statement that something is wrong or not satisfactory
Oxford|[countable] a reason for not being satisfied; a statement that somebody makes saying that they are not satisfied
Longman|1 [ countable, uncountable ] a statement in which someone complains about something
Oxford|(formal) to file/lodge (= make) a complaint
|---|---|---|
| make a complaint | Cambridge・Oxford・Longman | complain formally to someone |
| file / lodge a complaint | Oxford・Longman | formal(= make a complaint) |
| bring a complaint against sb | Longman | complain in a formal, legal way |
| deal with / handle a complaint | Cambridge Business・Longman | They have an efficient system in place for dealing with customer complaints. |
| investigate a complaint | Longman | officials investigated a complaint of neglect |
| uphold a complaint | Longman | say it is reasonable |
| a complaints procedure | Oxford・Longman | a system for dealing with complaints |
| grounds for complaint | Cambridge・Oxford | reason to formally complain |
Longman が uphold a complaint (= say it is reasonable) と注記しています。
Cambridge|complaint noun ( ILLNESS ) [ C ] an illness : a heart / stomach complaint
He is having treatment for a chest complaint.
Longman Business|LAW a statement made by a person bringing a case or making a claim in a court of law , stating the facts upon which the case or claim is based
Oxford|to say that you are annoyed, unhappy or not satisfied about somebody/something
annoyed(いらだっている)が語義に入っている点は覚えておく価値があります。
Cambridge Business
to tell someone that something is wrong or not satisfactory , and that you are annoyed about it
Grammar You complain about something or someone: They complained about the service. Don’t say: They complained against the service. | They complained for the service.
|---|---|---|
| complain about something | 苦情の中身 | Shoppers complained about the lack of toilet facilities. |
| complain to somebody | 苦情を言う先 | Annoyed residents have complained to the police. |
| complain of something | 被害として訴える中身 | The defendant complained of intimidation during the investigation. |
| complaint about sb/sth | 苦情の対象 | The gas company has promised to investigate the man’s complaint about a quarterly bill |
| complaint against sb/sth | 苦情の相手方 | I believe you have a complaint against one of our nurses. |
| complaint from somebody | 苦情の出どころ | Council bosses said they would respond to complaints from residents. |
| complaint of something | 認定された不当の中身 | The Tribunal upheld his complaint of discrimination. |
| complaint to somebody | 苦情の提出先 | They said their complaints to the police were often not acted on. |
about は中身、to は宛先、against は相手方、from は出どころ。
Cambridge の米語版は、complain of を体の不調に使う形として立てています=If you complain of a physical condition, you describe something that hurts or makes you feel ill。She complained of aching knees.
Cambridge の語義は a subject or problem that people are thinking and talking about(B1)で、感情の語が入っていません。
Oxford は an important topic that people are discussing or arguing about です。
- We have an issue with the latest shipment.=
- We would like to raise an issue regarding the latest shipment.=Oxford の The union plans to raise the issue of overtime.
- We would like to file a complaint about the latest shipment.=
have an issue with someone/something — to dislike or disapprove of someone or something and let it upset or worry you
take issue with someone/something C1 formal — to disagree strongly
have an issue with を人に向けて使うと「その人が気に入らない」になり、take issue with は「強く反対する」です。
Oxford の語義は advice, criticism or information about how good or useful something or somebody’s work is です。
Longman Business
- HUMAN RESOURCES=advice or criticism about how well you are doing your job and what you could do to improve(上司が部下に返すもの)
- MARKETING=advice or criticism about products or ideas for new products(顧客が会社に返すもの)
⛔ 直してほしいことがあるときに I have some feedback.
Cambridge Business|HR an official complaint by an employee that they have been treated unfairly
Longman Business|HUMAN RESOURCES a complaint made by a worker to an employer , usually because they feel they have been treated unfairly
grievance something that you feel unhappy about because you think that you have been treated unfairly
この語義のうしろに、ダッシュでつないだ使い所の指示が続きます=use this especially about an official complaint you make about the place where you work(職場に対して出す正式な苦情に、特にこの語を使いなさい)
|---|---|---|
| file a grievance | Cambridge Business・Longman | American English(= officially complain) |
| raise a grievance | Cambridge Business | file/raise a grievance |
| air your grievances | Oxford・Longman | express them/tell people you think you have been treated unfairly |
| have / nurse a grievance against sb | Cambridge・Oxford・Longman | 不満を抱え続ける |
| a grievance procedure | Cambridge・Oxford・Longman | a way of dealing with your complaints at work |
| settle a grievance | Longman | solve one |
He had been nursing a grievance against his boss for months.(Oxford)のように使います。
C1 to tell someone, usually in a letter or email , that you have received something they sent you
usually in a letter or email
この語義の下に、定型そのものが載っています=acknowledge receipt of/Please acknowledge receipt of this letter.(本書状の受領をご確認ください)
acknowledge I acknowledge that the project has faced delays, but we will do all we can to make up time.
Cambridge Business|LAW legal responsibility for something
They still haven’t admitted liability for the crash which ruined so many lives .
The army denied liability but agreed to make an out-of-court settlement .
denied liability but agreed to make an out-of-court settlement=責任は否認したが和解には応じた、という書き方が実在することも、同じ例文が示しています。
- We acknowledge that the shipment arrived three days late.=
- We are looking into the cause.=
- ⛔ We admit liability.=
Cambridge|look into something B2 to examine the facts about a problem or situation
examine the facts(事実を調べる)が語義です。
I’ll look into it and get back to you.
look into it and get back to you で1セットです。
Cambridge|[ I or T ] to become or make something become greater or more serious : His financial problems escalated after he became unemployed .
The row could escalate into full-blown conflict.
Cambridge|specialized to involve someone more important or higher in rank in a situation or problem
続けて、そのまま使える型と例文が並んでいます=escalate something to someone/You might need to escalate the issue to the next highest level management team.
Oxford
Oxford|[transitive] escalate something to involve a more senior person in dealing with a problem or complaint
Cambridge Business
escalate a problem/matter/complaint If the customer remains dissatisfied with the response , they may then escalate the complaint .
If you do not hear from us within 10 working days of having escalated your complaint , please contact Mr. K. Santhanam.
INSURANCE a request to an insurance company for payment relating to an accident , illness , damage to property , etc.: pay/refuse/settle a claim / file/make/submit a claim
LAW a request to a court , government department , or company for something such as money or property that you believe you have a legal right to: bring/file a claim against sb/sth
Cambridge|a written promise from a company to repair or replace a product that develops a fault within a particular period of time
repair or replace(修理または交換)と within a particular period of time(一定期間内)が語義に入っています。
Cambridge の語義はこのあとに or を挟んで続き、作業のやり直し(to do a piece of work again if it is not satisfactory)も warranty に含めています。
| under warranty | Cambridge・Oxford・Longman | The laptop can be repaired for free if it’s still under warranty. |
| breach of warranty | Cambridge Business・Oxford | He took legal action against the company for breach of warranty. |
| extended warranty | Cambridge Business | see also の並び |
| a manufacturer’s / one-year warranty | Cambridge Business | The model carries a three-year warranty.(Oxford) |
Cambridge Business の claim の語義には、この2語をつなぐ例文まであります=A breach of warranty will give the purchaser the right to claim damages from the vendor.(保証違反があれば、買主は売主に損害賠償を請求する権利を得る)
Cambridge|B1 an amount of money that is given back to you, especially because you are not happy with a product or service that you have bought
because you are not happy with a product or service(買ったものに満足できないから)が語義に入っています。
Cambridge Business|ask for/claim/demand a refund
Oxford|to claim/demand/receive a refund
claim benefit/an allowance/damages etc If you’re still not satisfied, you may be able to claim compensation .
Cambridge Business|LAW , INSURANCE money that is paid to someone because they have been hurt , or because something has been lost or damaged : seek compensation for injury / a compensation claim
⛔ Cambridge Business の HR ラベルの語義は the combination of payment and other benefits that an employee receives for doing their job=給与と福利厚生の総額です。
Subject: Issue with order #A-4821 - three units damaged on arrival Dear Ms. Carter, I am writing about order #A-4821, which we received on 15 September. Three of the twenty units were damaged when the shipment arrived. Photographs are attached. We would like to raise this as a formal issue and ask you to look into the cause. Could you let us know by 24 September whether replacements can be sent? If replacements are not possible, we would like to claim a refund for the three damaged units. Thank you for your help. Kind regards, Haruka Sato Purchasing, Nomura Trading K.K.
raise this as a formal issue(正式な論点として提起する)、look into the cause(原因を調べてもらう)、claim a refund(返金を請求する)。
Subject: Formal complaint - order #A-4821 (no response since 16 September) Dear Ms. Carter, I wrote to you on 16 September about three damaged units in order #A-4821. We have not received a response, and the replacement date has now passed. We would like to file a formal complaint about the handling of this order. Please confirm the name of the person who will deal with this complaint. If we do not hear from you within 10 working days, we will escalate this matter to your customer relations department. Kind regards, Haruka Sato Purchasing, Nomura Trading K.K.
file a formal complaint about(Oxford の file/lodge a complaint と complaint about sth)、deal with this complaint(Cambridge Business の deal with/handle complaints)、within 10 working days(Cambridge の escalate の例文)。
Subject: RE: Formal complaint - order #A-4821 Dear Ms. Sato, Thank you for your email. I acknowledge receipt of your complaint dated 22 September. I acknowledge that our reply to your message of 16 September was late. We are looking into what happened to the three damaged units and why the replacement date was missed. I will get back to you with the findings by 29 September. Your complaint has been assigned reference number CR-2291, and I will handle it personally. If you do not hear from me by that date, please escalate this to our customer relations manager, Mr. David Lin. Kind regards, Emily Carter Account Manager
acknowledge receipt of(Cambridge の定型)、looking into(examine the facts about a problem)、get back to you(Cambridge の I’ll look into it and get back to you.)、escalate this to(escalate something to someone)。

- a dissatisfied customer=Cambridge の complaint の例文 a long list of complaints from dissatisfied customers から
- someone who has made a complaint=辞書の形をそのまま使う
They have an efficient system in place for dealing with customer complaints.
We have a clear and effective complaints procedure. という例文を載せ、Longman は a system for dealing with complaints と注記しています。
We received a complain. ではなく We received a complaint.
Cambridge が specialized のラベル付きで to involve someone more important or higher in rank in a situation or problem という語義を立てており、Oxford も to involve a more senior person in dealing with a problem or complaint です。
確実に伝えたいなら pass this on to my manager のように言い換えてください。
Cambridge の acknowledge には、受領を伝える語義(to tell someone, usually in a letter or email, that you have received something they sent you)と、事実を認める語義(to accept, admit, or recognize something)の2つが別々に立っています。
- I acknowledge receipt of your complaint.=
- I acknowledge that the reply was late.=
(Cambridge Business LAW)
| 中 | make a complaint | complaint=B1・基本語 |
| 強い | file / lodge a formal complaint | formal のラベルあり(Oxford) |
| 最も強い | bring a complaint against sb | complain in a formal, legal way(Longman) |
Longman が complained against・complained for を名指しで禁じています
claim a refund、claim damages、file a claim with our insurer。
