invoice、bill、statement、quotation、receipt。
Cambridge Business の語義は a document that lists things provided or work done, gives their cost, and asks for payment=①一覧 ②金額 ③支払いの請求、の3つが揃った書類です
英国政府の公式ガイドは you need to give them an invoice (bill) by law と書き、invoice の言い換えとして (bill) を括弧で置いています
quotation は how much a job, service, or product will cost(確定の言い方)、estimate は how much a piece of work should cost(概算)です
GOV.UK は An invoice is not the same as a receipt, which is an acknowledgement of payment.
Longman Business の語義は a list showing amounts of money paid, received, owing etc and their total です
Cambridge Business の語義は an outstanding debt has not yet been paid=未払い。
If you sell a customer a product or a service, you need to give them an invoice (bill) by law if both you and the customer are registered for VAT (a business to business transaction).
An invoice is not the same as a receipt, which is an acknowledgement of payment.
|---|---|---|---|
| ①支払いの前 | 見積(概算) | estimate | how much a piece of work should cost |
| ②支払いの前 | 見積(確定) | quotation | how much a job, service, or product will cost |
| ③支払いの前 | 請求書 | invoice | lists … gives their cost, and asks for payment |
| ④支払いの後 | 領収書 | receipt | proving that money … have been received |
| ⑤期間ごと | 取引明細 | statement | amounts of money paid, received, owing etc and their total |
invoice — a document that lists things provided or work done, gives their cost, and asks for payment
lists(一覧)・gives their cost(金額)・asks for payment(支払いを求める)の3つが並んでいます。
Longman Business
invoice — a document sent by a seller to a customer with details of goods or services that have been provided, their price, and the payment date
the payment date = 支払期日。
- issue/raise an invoice=to prepare and send an invoice or to arrange for one to be prepared and sent
- chase up an invoice(informal)=to try to persuade someone to pay an unpaid invoice
Oxford
to send/issue/settle an invoice
Cambridge Business も pay / settle an invoice を並べています。
Cambridge
Invoices must be submitted by the 24th of every month./The supplier must issue an invoice for all taxable supplies.
Cambridge Business
invoice — to supply a list of things provided or work done together with their cost, asking for payment/At the end of the month, please invoice us for all freelance work completed.
Please invoice us for the September work. send an invoice for …
Longman Business
We’ll invoice you for any damage to the rented car.
bill — a request for payment of money owed, or the piece of paper on which it is written/an electricity / gas / phone bill
A2 = 初級で覚える日常語です。例に並んでいるのも電気・ガス・電話で、企業間の取引ではなく生活費の請求です。
Cambridge | A2 |
Oxford | especially British English |
| 紙幣 | Oxford・LDOCE | North American English |
- 会話・生活費の話=bill(an electricity bill・the gas bill)
A bill is also a check.
quotation — a statement of how much a job, service, or product will cost/Get at least three quotations for the work./Written quotations are available on request.
estimate — a statement for a possible customer about how much a piece of work should cost
will cost と should cost の差です。
If it is discovered that the cost will be greater than originally estimated, a revised estimate may then be sent to you.
Longman
estimate — a statement of how much it will probably cost to build or repair something/The builder gave me an estimate of £10,000.
Could you give us a quotation for fixing the roof?(Longman Business)/You need to get a written quotation before they start work.(Oxford)
receipt — something such as a piece of paper or message proving that money, goods, or information have been received/Make sure you are given a receipt for everything you buy.
proving that … have been received = 受け取られたことの証明。
Cambridge Business
receipt [U] — the act of receiving something/I acknowledge receipt of the sum of £10,000./We will send an acknowledgement within two working days of receipt.
acknowledge receipt of …
You will get an automatic reply to your email confirming receipt.
receipt — to write ‘paid’ and the date on a bill or invoice and sign it/One copy is receipted and returned to you./a receipted hotel bill
Cambridge Business の receipts は the total amount of money received by a business or government = 売上・収入の総額です(cash / box-office receipts)。
statement — a list showing amounts of money paid, received, owing etc and their total/You will receive a monthly statement showing the state of your account.
monthly = 月次。statement は1件の取引ではなく、期間をまとめた一覧です。請求書が1件なら、statement は1か月分です。
Cambridge Business
statement — a printed or electronic record of the money that is paid into or taken out of your bank account during a particular period of time
statement — something that someone says or writes officially, or an action done to express an opinion
Please find the statement attached.
Longman Business の例文は showing the state of your account となっており、account と組み合わせるのが辞書に沿った形だと分かります。
GOV.UK の「Invoices – what they must include」に、Your invoice must include: として9項目が並んでいます。
- a unique identification number(請求書番号)
- your company name, address and contact information(自社名・住所・連絡先)
- the company name and address of the customer you’re invoicing(相手先の社名・住所)
- a clear description of what you’re charging for(何に対する請求かの明確な記載)
- the date the goods or service were provided (supply date)(提供日)
- the date of the invoice(請求書の日付)
- the amount(s) being charged(請求額)
- VAT amount if applicable(該当する場合は付加価値税額)
- the total amount owed(支払総額)
★supply date(提供日)と the date of the invoice(請求書の日付)が別項目として並んでいる点に注意してください。
- 個人事業主(sole trader)=your name and any business name being used/屋号を使う場合は法的書類を送れる住所
- 有限責任会社(limited company)=the full company name as it appears on the certificate of incorporation
- 役員名を載せる場合=you must include the names of all directors(一部だけ載せることはできない)
due(formal)— expected to happen, arrive, etc. at a particular time
due — if an amount of money is due, it must be paid now or at the stated time
Oxford の例文が、請求書にそのまま書ける1行です=Payment is due on 1 October.
payable — that should be paid/Interest payments are payable monthly.
payable — If a cheque is payable to a particular person or organization, his, her, or its name is written on it and the money will be paid to him, her, or it/Please make your cheque payable to WWF.
make … payable to = 宛名を〜にする。
The fees are payable monthly./The debt is payable in one lump sum or by instalments.
in one lump sum(一括)or by instalments(分割)。
remittance(formal)— a sum of money that is sent to somebody in order to pay for something/Remittance can be made by cheque or credit card.
outstanding — clearly very much better than what is usual/an outstanding performance / writer / novel / year
outstanding — an outstanding debt has not yet been paid/an outstanding debt / balance
has not yet been paid = まだ払われていない。だから We note that invoice 1042 is still outstanding.
Cambridge Academic
outstanding — not yet done, solved, or paid/My credit cards usually have an outstanding balance.
overdue — not done or happening when expected or when needed; late
Cambridge Academic の settle の語義は to pay money owed で、例文は He sold his photographs to settle some old debts. です。Oxford も to send/issue/settle an invoice と並べています。
Subject: Invoice WS-2026-118 for September services - due 31 October Dear Ms. Miller, Please find attached invoice WS-2026-118 for the translation work completed in September. If anything on the invoice needs to be corrected, please let me know and I will issue a revised one. Kind regards, Kenji Sato
invoice(書類)、due on(期日)、payable to(宛名)、issue(出す)の4語で組んであります。
Thank you. We acknowledge receipt of invoice WS-2026-118. It has been passed to our accounts team and is scheduled for payment on 31 October.
acknowledge receipt of … (I acknowledge receipt of the sum of £10,000.)

Written quotations are available on request.
Cambridge Business の語義は an outstanding debt has not yet been paid。
Payment is due on 31 October.
a revised invoice です。Cambridge Business の estimate の例文に a revised estimate may then be sent to you という形があり、revised が「改訂した」を担う語だと確認できます。
- 請求書=invoice(一覧+金額+支払いの請求+期日)
- 同じものの日常語=bill(A2・意味が多いので書類名には使わない)
- 見積=quotation(will cost=確定)/estimate(should cost=概算)
- 領収書=receipt(払われたことの証明)/受領の行為=receipt [U]
- 期間の明細=statement(monthly statement)
- ⛔ 未払い=outstanding(優秀ではない)/期日超過=overdue
